of Michigan, University of Washington, Northwestern University and
Stanford University all use Louisville Slugger softball bats.
The Catalyst model of bats is a unique bat that is made from numerous
layers of 100% aerospace grade graphite. The graphite fibers are
embedded in a toughened epoxy resin for ultimate strength and
durability. The Louisville Slugger end cap is designed to allow the bat
to have maximum flexibility in the barrel. The ST+20 model is considered
to be one of the toughest alloy bats on the market.
The Air 2X Louisville Slugger softball bat uses a unique air chamber
that isolates the hitting area of the barrel to provide an enhanced
sweet spot. This provides the player with increased performance.
The ST Alloy bats offer a variety of increased performance options.
The bat is based on a one-piece construction design that is designed to
prevent the bat from bending. Because the handle and the barrel are made
of the same material, there is not a weak juncture point to cause the
bat to flex or bend when it connects with a ball. It also features an
internal carbon composite sleeve that provides increased stiffness in
the handle as well. This causes the bat to be much stiffer than aluminum
alone. The metal of the bat is designed in a grid pattern. These holes
are filled with carbon composite inserts that are much stronger and
lighter than the metal that was cut out.
